November 2022 Reads & Reviews
This month was full of a lot of romance books, all by Colleen Hoover and one psychological horror by Stephen King. I have been seeing all of Colleen's books blowing up on Tik Tok, so I wanted to join everyone else and see what the hype was about. I did enjoy a lot of them, they are quick and easy reads with interesting storylines.
Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover
This was a highly recommended book from my sister as well as Tik Tok, so I had high expectations. Tate and Miles meet in a complicated way and don't get off on the right foot even as friends, but their mutual attraction is undeniable so they agree to keep their relationship just about sex as Miles is nowhere near wanting love and Tate is focusing on her career. The agreement is straightforward but after some time, isn't manageable anymore. Feelings get involved and hurt and their rules get thrown away. My rating for this book is a 4/5.
November 9 by Colleen Hoover
I thought this book was okay. It's not my favorite Colleen Hoover book, but it was still good. This romance was an good story and has a big twist but can also be a little cheesy at times. Again, this book switches from the perspectives of Fallon, an aspiring actress, and Ben, an aspiring novelist. They meet the day before Fallon was moving across the country to follow her dreams of acting. They spend her entire last day together and agree to meet every year on November 9th with no contact in between. This arrangement and Fallon are Ben's inspiration for his novel. This was a cute story with a cameo of Tate and Miles from Ugly Love which was fun to see, I'd rate this a 3/5.
Reminders of Him by Colleen Hoover
This book was amazing! The story was so well written and emotional in the best way. I thought it did a good job at helping the reader truly understand the main character's mindset and troubles. This book is told from Kenna and Ledger's perspective, switching off each chapter. Kenna is a young mother trying to get her daughter back after being in prison for a tragic accident. She goes back to her hometown to get back on her feet before reaching out to her child. Many people know the stories of her and the tragedy that sent her to prison, but Ledger, a local bar owner gives her a shot at redemption. I enjoyed this book so much I read it in a day! 4.5/5 starts from me!
It Starts With Us by Colleen Hoover
After reading It Ends With Us last month, I was super excited for this book to see how the story ends. It was a happy ending to the first book with a lot less drama. This book focuses on the perspectives of Lily and Atlas and how they navigate their relationship with the obstacle of Ryle still being in the picture as he is the father of Lily's daughter. I liked the story and how it played out, but I will say I was a expecting a lot more just based off the first one. This book is a lot lighter and happier than the book prior and I still do recommend you read this if you read It Ends With Us. I would rate this book a 3.5/5!
Misery by Stephen King
I have never read a book by Stephen King so I was excited for this one. This book was published in 1987, so the word choice and style was different than I'm used to. This book is also quite long, 432 pages, and was a little hard to get into at first, but once the story progressed I couldn't put it down during the second half. The story is about Paul Sheldon, a famous author and his captor, Annie Wilkes. Annie found and saved Paul after a car accident and nursed him back to health, she is his number one fan and does everything in her power to hold onto him and inspire him to write her another Misery novel. If you read this, I wouldn't suggest watching the movie unless you want to be extremely disappointed! The book, as usual, was wayyyy better. I gave this book a 3.5/5.
November was a good month for books, I was able to knockout quite a few Colleen Hoover books that have been on my TBR and branch out to a horror by Stephen King. As always, take my reviews with a grain of salt, I recommend you read all these and come up with your own opinions, I love talking about books so message me if you agree or disagree with anything I've said, I'd love to hear from you!
